Abstract

|
Myeloid metaplasia is characterized by progressive splenomegaly, gradual replacement
of marrow elements by fibrosis, varing degrees of anemia, and variable changes in the
number of granulocytes and platelets. Occasionally it is transformed from polycythemia
vera during its late course.
The authors present a case of myeloid metaplasia transformed from polycythemia vera
3.5 years after treatment with radioactive phosphorus and phlebotomy.
